Good time to sweat & beat out the past winter.. #Beltane early eve in Roja, #kultani ..Inside the dark sauna, I ask.. 'Is it juniper?' not remembering the Latin or Latvian name (Juniperus, LV: Kadiķi, FI: Kataja).. He replies, 'you do it like this' demonstrating the whisking action, and answering my question in an alternative manner.. 'да, я помню' I stumble in reply, 'Es esmu Baltijas-skotu.. I have a lot of experience with pirts.. I come from Scotland but have lived in Finland long time'.. He says I can try his Slota.. And before leaving the heat he says something like 'Good that now Scottish are coming to Latvia for work.. Makes a change'.. I smile. If only he knew how often this one comes.. And before long the small spikes are whipping, bristling and tingling my skin.. Afterwords antidotal, I gently beat myself with the birch leaves, thinking about how I should be writing.. Writing up~in the field~work, weaving such contemporary undisciplinary anecdotes into my Doctoral thesis. Well, at least this one is now done, here and now in the changing rooms. Se on hyvä ajanvaraus mene saunaan.. Ja lisää löylyyy.. Lūdzu!! :) Online, #manimīļie; border--no-border, #Лесок.. I am free. 3x3x3, a time-span, a magic number, and a multi-dimensional turning point. So I daydream-do.. Dissolve myself into the steam and water <♥ Ready for Summer anew!
The Sign of Māra - Māra is the deity of earth and water and all the creatures within. An insight into her position within the ancient beliefs abound in dainas, and are just as often visually reflected in Latvian ornamental design. The symbol of Māra – a zigzag line – dates back to the Iron Age.
